Woman provides home for babies stuck in the adoption process ...

In California and elsewhere, the termination of parental rights can be a painstaking and drawn out process. Many children who are involved in home situations where this is occurring are placed in foster homes. A recent story making headlines involves a foster mother who has taken care of 185 babies who were in similar situations. She only takes in children whose birth parents are in the process of the termination of parental rights and who are on their way to permanent homes.

The woman is licensed to perform as a foster mother and provides temporary care for children who will likely be placed into adoptive homes. She has never adopted a child, and has instead chosen to act a solid gateway for younger babies, no older than 10 months, soon to be placed in loving homes.

She considers acting as a foster mother a passion. And while she is not the only foster mother to perform in this type of function, but the Texas woman has probably taken in more children than most. The young babies she takes in stay in her home sometimes for just a night or sometimes they may be there for months. The time spent in her home depends on how long it takes for legal proceedings over parental rights to be decided.

She found giving up the children at first to be painful, but as the years passed, her feelings began to change. She realized that taking care of the baby's needs and letting them go were important parts of the process.

Understandably, the termination of parental rights process can have a great impact on children and their adoptive families. California parents involved in this process likely hope that their child will be placed in such a loving home as this one.
