IUPUI official joins delegation of mayors, business and agriculture leaders on state economic development mission to China

Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman will lead a 37-member delegation of mayors and business and agriculture leaders on an economic development mission to China, June 11 to 17. IUPUI Vice Chancellor Amy Warner is a member of the delegation.
According to a news release issued by the office of the lieutenant governor, Skillman will recognize Indiana?s 25-year relationship with Zhejiang province. The lieutenant governor will make stops in Hangzhou, Yuhang and Beijing to strengthen Indiana?s relationship with China.
As Indiana?s secretary of agriculture, Skillman will promote Hoosier products. Indiana?s agricultural exports have increased in recent years, with a large majority of the growth coming from China. Indiana exported an estimated $1.035 billion in food and agricultural products to China in 2011.
The costs of the trade mission are being covered through private donations.
