Lindsay Lohan Completes Probation

Judge tells troubled actress, 'Stop nightclubbing and focus on your work.'

Lindsay Lohan got some good news on Thursday when she appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and a judge formally ended her lengthy supervised probation from two 2007 DUI arrests. Wearing a Powder-blue pantsuit, the troubled actress earned praise for completing her court-mandated counseling sessions and 480 hours of community service.

According to the Los Angeles Times, at the final probation status check-in for Lohan in connection with a shoplifting conviction and probation violations from the 2007 arrests, Judge Stephanie Sautner said Lohan had finished her obligations for counseling and community service in "short of a year and she has done everything this court asked her to do."

The actress completed the final counseling sessions and community service work at the Los Angeles County morgue earlier this week. Sautner then announced that the five years of probation for the DUI case were officially over and that she was putting Lohan on unsupervised probation for the shoplifting incident until May 2014.

"The only terms for you are for you to obey all laws," Sautner said. "You don't need to come to court anymore."

In addition to countless court appearances, Lohan has been jailed several times  for violations stemming from drug use to failing to do her required community service.

Clearly pleased, Lohan, 25, told the judge, "I just wanted to thank you for being fair. What you've done has really opened a lot of doors for me."

Lohan has been working on getting her career back on track, recently appearing in an episode of "Saturday Night Live",  booking a "Glee" gig  and signing up to play Elizabeth Taylor  in a TV movie.

But, before the hearing ended, Sautner had one more piece of advice for Lohan. "Stop nightclubbing and focus on your work," she counseled.

Abstract: Today?s technology is mostly preprogrammed but the next generation will make many decisions autonomously. This shift is likely to impact every aspect of our lives and will create many new benefits and challenges. A simple thought experiment about a chess robot illustrates that autonomous systems with simplistic goals can behave in anti-social ways. We summarize the modern theory of rational systems and discuss the effects of bounded computational power. We show that rational systems are subject to a variety of ?drives? including self-protection, resource acquisition, replication, goal preservation, efficiency, and self-improvement. We describe techniques for counteracting problematic drives. We then describe the ?Safe-AI Scaffolding? development strategy and conclude with longer term strategies for ensuring that intelligent technology contributes to the greater human good.

Prince of Persia and Karateka, were two of the best action games of their era. Why? Because they gave us an inkling of what real, fluid graphical motion would look like in a few years' time and, more important, were pretty much amazing if you were used to the Atari 2600 and River Raid. I remember playing Karateka before school at age ten, chopping my way through enemies on my way to save my sweetie and then, a few years later, playing PoP. Both were amazing. Why? Because he created smooth, believable animation at eight frames per second on machines that were more suited to games like The Oregon Trail. He also created action games that led to realistic titles like Tekken that used real, human motion in order to add amazing realism. A funny thing happened about ten years ago. The creator of these games, Jordan Mechner, apparently lost the original PoP source code and hunted all over for it, asking former Broderbund employees and digging through old files. The files - stored on 3.5-inch floppy disks - contained the original machine code for the game. The only way to actually play the game, until today, was run an emulated, extracted ROM.

Aerosmith Announces Summer Tour, New Album

Steven Tyler stole the spotlight for a few moments on American Idol last night, announcing that he and Aerosmith will be hitting the tour this summer for the band's first tour since 2009.

"We're calling the tour the Global Warming Tour," Tyler said like only he can. "Because of the fire. Yo tengo el fuego."

Earlier in the day, Tyler gathered at the Grove in Los Angeles - along with bandmate Joe Perry - and also revealed that the legendary group will release a new album - its first in eight years - some time later this year.

"We've been underground for four months, doing what we do best," said Tyler, adding that they're two songs away from completion on the CD.

But back to the tour: it will kick off on June 16 in Minneapolis, Cheap Trick will open and tickets go on sale tomorrow. Sounds like Amazing news to us! We aren't Cryin upon hearing it! And we Don't Wanna Miss a Thing when it comes to Aerosmith!
